Rozelle Candis West

Rozelle Candis Cheagle West, 74, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2024. She was a genuine woman whose life was characterized by her strength and deep love for family, and fondness for family gatherings. She was a woman who knew no stranger and was very giving of herself to others.

 She was the wife of the late David L. West.

She was born on August 2, 1950, a beloved daughter of the late James Wilton Cheagle and Vernon Virginia Beverley Cheagle. Rozelle is survived by three children, Tara Y. West (Ralph), Jeffrey D. West (Martina), and Derrick L. West (Diandra); six grandchildren, Jasmine, Jeff, Xander, Karter, Jacques, and Kennedy. Rozelle is preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Cheagle and Ursula Williams; and her brothers, James W. Cheagle and Roger C. Cheagle. She is also survived by her sisters, Rosalyn Cheagle and Hetti I. Cheagle; and her brothers Beverley K. Cheagle and Alton C. Cheagle along with other loving relatives, and friends.

Rozelle retired from General Electric Co. After her retirement, she continued her education at National Business College and pursued a career in Pharmacy Technician where she enjoyed working at CVS Pharmacy – Waterlick.

In Rozelle’s past time, she enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren and being a devoted fan of UVA Sports.

A visitation service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. 

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Rozelle will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, 11:00 a.m. -in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg.
