Ruby Coleman Tyree, 89, of Lynchburg, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 18, 2019 following a long illness. She was born March 16, 1929 in Lynchburg. She was the wife of Elvin “Buck” Tyree.
Ruby was the daughter of Addison Berkley Coleman, Sr. and Annie Lou Pearson Coleman. She was a graduate of E. C. Glass High School. She was employed for many years at General Electric. She was later employed at Liberty University and retired from Westminster Canterbury.
She was an avid gardener and a long-time member of Beulah Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Michael Tyree, of Lynchburg; her daughter, Robin Johnson and husband, Steve, of Newport, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brothers, Carl Coleman and wife, Daphne, and Milton Coleman; her sisters-in-law Dorothy Coleman, Joyce Austin, and Imy Tyree; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruby was a much-loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her personal faith in Jesus Christ gives us confidence that she is healed and at peace. She will be greatly missed:
A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Beulah Baptist Church, 528 Leesville Rd., Lynchburg, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
