Ruby Allen Dooley Key, 91, of Bedford went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Bedford County on September 20, 1933. A daughter of the late Noel Bernice Dooley, Sr. and Beth Hawkins Dooley. In addition to her parents Ruby was preceded in death by her seven siblings, Helen Duncan, Marie Newman, Noel Bernice, Jr., Betty Miller, Richard Lewis, Garland Warren and Willie Ray Dooley.
Ruby was known for her sweet and gentle soul. She always greeted you with a smile and loved her family and friends so much. She was a member of Otterville Church in Bedford. Her love for her Lord and Savior was so evident throughout her life and she was always wanting to invite others to give their life to the Lord and was so proud of her salvation, commitment and assurance of her faith. She was loved by so many and will truly be missed in the days ahead.
Ruby is survived by her husband Bernard Clyde “Bunny” Key; four children, Dallas Key and his wife, Donna, Dale Key and his wife, Victoria, Terry Key and his wife, Randi and Teresa Key Lipscomb and her husband, Wayne; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and so many family friends.
A funeral service and celebration of Ruby’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Otterville Church with Rev. Mark Wilkerson and Rev. Fred Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Suck Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford.
