Ruby Moore Evans, 86, of Concord, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg.
Ruby was born on December 9, 1928, in Flat Top, WV to the late Gilbert Stewart and the late Sadie Underwood Denton.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her first husband, Doyle McKinney Moore, of Moore’s Well Drilling in Rustburg; her second husband, Albert Evans; a grandson, Travis Doyle Witt; her brother, Carl Cooper; and two sisters: Betty Schaffer and Cordy Williams.
Ruby is survived by her only child, Sandy Sturgill of Concord; her granddaughter, Deena Robertson; her great-grandchildren Chloe Bolen and Zoey Robertson.
Ruby was a Master Doll Artisan, whose work has been sold all over the United States. She was the owner of Ruby’s Doll Shop in Rustburg for many years. Ruby enjoyed her retirement years by line-dancing and doing crafts. There was nothing she couldn’t do. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends at their home in Concord. A service will be held at a later date.
