Ruby Viola Floyd Booth Woodson Branch, 83, of Bedford, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord in Heaven on Sunday, April 3, 2016. She was born on July 3, 1932 in Amherst County. She is the daughter of the late Earnest P. and Vivian Tomlin Floyd. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Earl Branch; five brothers, Alvin, James, Edward, Charles and PFC Roger Floyd; two sisters, Mary Kathleen Floyd and Cora Frances Houston.
Ruby was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Bedford. She loved to teach children of all ages about Jesus in Sunday school and Bible school. Also enjoyed sewing, crafts, flowers, gardening, the outdoors and spending time with her family.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Rhonda B. Mitchell and her husband, John; two sons, Gary T. Booth and wife, Diane and Ronald D. Booth; one step-son, Mike Branch; five grandchildren, Teresa O. Hogan, Crystal Dean, Eric T. Booth, Samantha J. Booth and Brittany Booth; nine great-grandchildren, Luke, Ethan, Alex, Tyler, Elisha, Katelyn, Zander, Danielle, and Lucy; three sisters, Ruth Elder and husband, Butch, Kathy Burton and husband, Rusty and Gladys Peters and husband, Ryland; also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

A funeral service and celebration on Ruby’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Chapel officiating with Pastor Ronald Toms officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home.
