Rufus Dwight Orange, Sr.

Rufus Dwight Orange, Sr., 64, of Bedford, died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at his residence. He was born February 16, 1948 in Bedford County a son of Irene Overstreet Orange and Rufus Cosby Orange.

Rufus was a U.S. Army veteran. He loved hunting, fishing and being around people.

In addition to his parents, Rufus is survived by his wife of 41 years, Erma M. Orange; three children, Kim Howell and her husband, Kenny, Andrea Orange and her husband, Kenny, and Rufus \"Dwight\" Orange, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer all of Bedford; six grandchildren, Corey Orange and his wife, Amber, Jessica Brown and her husband, Rocky, Candace Orange, Joshua Howell, Morgan Orange and Madison Orange; one great-grandson, Blake Orange; two sisters, Barbara Bess and her husband, Norm of Richmond and Bettysue Orange of Roanoke; one brother, Jimmy Lee Orange of Bedford; and numerous other family and friends.

A celebration of Rufus\"™s life will be conducted at 11 AM, Monday, June 25, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Wayne E. Lawhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Land Cemetery will military honors given by American Legion Post #16 Lynchburg. The family will receive friends from 3-6 PM, Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 586-3443.
