Rufus Julian Trent, Sr., 79, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 13, 2019.
He was born on December 21, 1939 in Appomattox, Va., a son of the late Almond Julian Trent and the late Naomi Abbott Trent.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Carla Womack Trent and his brothers Richard and Jerry Trent.
Rufus served his country in the United States Army and went on to retire from the Virginia National Guard. He was a long time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Concord, Va.
He is survived by his sons Rufus Julian Trent, Jr. and his wife, Adrienne, of Charlotte, N.C., Earl M. Trent of Nashville, Tenn., and William R. Trent and his wife, Erica, of Scottsville, Va.; his sister Martha Pankey of Appomattox; his brother Remus Trent of Lynchburg; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Rufus’ life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, at 12 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Carl B. Hutcherson, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Concord, Va.
