Russell Lee Ayscue, Sr., 95, of Lynchburg, died Friday, March 30, 2012. He was the husband of the late Roberta Guerrant Ayscue.
Russell was born, November 26, 1916 in North Carolina, a son of the late Herbert Ayscue and the late Daisy Collins Ayscue. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army Air Force as a Technical Sergeant with the 455th Bombardment Squadron during WWII in the European Theatre. He was with Leggett department store for 52 years, serving as manager of the Pittman Plaza store. He was a long time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Russell especially enjoyed visiting and tending his apple orchard near the Peaks of Otter.
He is survived by a son, Russell Lee Ayscue, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Kim Ayscue and a grandson, Russell Lee Ayscue, III, all of Lynchburg, VA.
A private memorial service will be held.
