Ruth Denbo Rogers, 92, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, November 04, 2017. She was the wife of the late James Wesley Rogers Jr., for 62 years.
Born Saturday, November 22, 1924 in Crowley, LA, Ruth was a daughter of the late Bruce Emerson Denbo and the late Ursula Hamilton Denbo.
Ruth is survived by her children Wes Rogers, Wade Rogers (Kathy), Gail Ballowe; grandchildren, Brian Rogers (Betsy), Kelly Smith (Brian), Laura Rogers, Sean Rogers, and Stephanie Manning (Sylvester); great grandchildren, James, Miles, Charlie, Fletcher, Josie, and Camden.
Ruth was the youngest of 5 children. Katheryn Denbo Batte, Bruce Frederick Denbo, Beverly Denbo Walker all preceded her in death. Her brother, Robert Thomas Denbo is her only surviving sibling. Ruth and her husband, Jim enjoyed their retirement in Camden, SC, a little town they both held dear. One of Ruth’s most notable deeds was to be the typist for their minister, Ralph Cannon. Over the years, she typed his sermons and two short books of Ralph’s writings. Not long after Jim’s death, Ruth moved to Lynchburg to be closer to her children.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory. Lynchburg. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with Wes Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
