Ruth Hamilton Moorefield, 69, of Forest, passed away on November 17, 2016, surrounded by her family after a long illness. She is the wife of Ronald L. Moorefield from Forest, Va.
Born in Lynchburg, Va., on January 1, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Nelson Kenmore Hamilton and Evelyn Williamson Hamilton. She is survived by her two sons: David N. Goodman and wife Cherie, and Kenneth H. Goodman and wife Sandy, all from Forest Va.; her step daughter, Lisa Morton of Charlotte, NC; her sister, Marie H. Powell and husband Ed; four grandchildren: Addison, Tristan and Logan Goodman, and Kaitlyn Phillips; two nephews, Michael Powell of Port Orange, FL. and wife Cindy, and Chris Powell of Forest, Va. and wife Laura. She also had many cousins, nieces and nephews who were very special to her.
She retired after twenty-nine years as a registered nurse at Lynchburg General and Virginia Baptist Hospitals. She was the first nurse employed for the Campbell County Sheriff’s department. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Campbell County Rescue Squad or the charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
