Ruth Harless Carson

Ruth Harless Carson, 96, of Lynchburg, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 13, 2012. Born Friday, September 10, 1915 in Craig County, VA, Ruth was the daughter of the late Lula Hypes Harless and the late Daniel Jackson Harless. She was the wife of the late Royal William Carson.

 In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wayne Carson, and a granddaughter, Debbie Trent Grishaw.

 Ruth is survived by a daughter: Shelby Carson Trent and her husband Clayton, of Lynchburg; a son: Royal William Carson, Jr. and his wife, Judy of Lynchburg; three grandchildren:

Richard Benjamin Trent and his wife, Amy, Lynchburg; Royal William Carson, III and his wife, Beth, Blacksburg, VA; and Kimberly Carson Gryder and her husband, Tim, Lynchburg; and seven great grandchildren: Summer Lynn Trent, Benjamin Clayton Trent, Zenna Leigh Carson, Eliana Grace Carson, Joshua Lewis Gryder, Phillip Logan Gryder, and Preston Lane Gryder.

 Ruth was a good Christian lady. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a wonderful cook who enjoyed feeding others. She worked for the Presbyterian Home where she was a House Mother. She was a faithful member of her church, Calvary Baptist Church, Concord.

 The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A celebration of Ruth's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Casper officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
