Ruth Janice Brooks Francis, 85, of Forest, passed away with family by her side on Thursday, September 3, 2015.
Born in Upper Darby, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Elsie Brooks. She was a member of St. Steven’s Episcopal Church in Forest, and was involved with the Lynchburg Women’s Club. Ruth was an avid golf player, enjoyed gardening, and playing bridge. She was also a devoted homemaker, wife and mother, and hosted many family gatherings over the years of her life.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy, Katherine, and Marion.
She is survived by her husband, Jack, who was by her side and gave her exceptional care until her passing; her children and their spouses, Mark Francis and his wife, Ghada, Karen Francis, and Gail Lawson and her husband, Gordon; and two grandchildren, Morgan Lawson and Jean-Mark Francis.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at the residence of Gail and Gordon Lawson on Sunday, September 6, 2015, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
