Sadie Elizabeth Neighbors, 91, of Lynchburg, Va., died on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. She was the wife of the late Claude William Neighbors.
Sadie was born on Friday, November 6, 1925, in Nelson County, Va., a daughter of the late Willie Lowell Campbell and Lottie Campbell. She was a strong and loving woman who was greatly fulfilled by the many responsibilities of motherhood. Sadie’s life centered around her family. She took enormous pride in the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her home was always open to her family and all their friends, many of whom found a place to live with her and her husband during times of transition.
She is survived by her son, Jimmie Dale Neighbors and wife, Donna, of Charles Town, W.Va.; by her daughters, Betty Lambdin and husband, Lanny, of Amherst, Va. and Janet Werner and husband, Chuck, of Lynchburg, Va.; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Lee Roy Campbell and wife, Shelby, of Madison Heights, Va. and Clyde Campbell and wife, Wanda, of Amherst, Va.; sister, Jewel C. Bomar and husband, Hale, of Florence, Miss; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William Ray (Chuck) Campbell and Page R. Campbell; and sisters, Charlene C. Lewis and Helen Campbell.
A celebration of Sadie’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Tharp Funeral Home’s Lynchburg Chapel with Pastor Steven L. Bird officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider memorial contributions to St Jude Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.
