Sally Andrews Geissler

Sally Andrews Geissler, 73, of Lynchburg, died on Thursday, August 15, 2013. She was the wife of George Oscar Geissler. Born in Westville, NJ on June 29, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Henry Alloway Andrews and the late Violet Weber Andrews.

In addition to her husband, Sally is survived by one daughter, Karen Taylor Brown and husband, Matthew of Raleigh, NC; two brothers, Mark Henry Andrews and wife, Charlotte of Mullica Hill, NJ and Wayne Allen Andrews of Forest, VA; four grandchildren, Matthew, Erin, Dominic, and Chloe Brown; two step-daughters, Julie Marie Greco and husband, Michael of Winston-Salem, NC and Anne Marie Hovis and husband, Steve of Lynchburg, VA; one step-son, Timothy George Geissler of Charlotte, NC; three step-grandsons, Jacob Hovis and Andrew and Aidan Geissler, and two step-granddaughters, Teresa Greco and Tara Greco Elmore.

In addition to her parents, Sally was predeceased by one step-son, Joseph M. Geissler.

Sally was a member of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church and retired from SunTrust Bank as telecommunications manager. Throughout her life, Sally touched people with her musical and artistic gifts. She was very involved with the Lynchburg Fine Arts Center for many years; where she performed in many productions and sang with the Fascination Singers. She also performed with the Cherry Tree Players. Sally inspired many with her strength, determination, and optimism. She truly never met a stranger.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church with the Rev. Catharine Montgomery officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church parish hall immediately following the services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sally\"™s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
