Samuel H. Bibee

The family of Sam Bibee sadly announces his death on Sunday, May 22, 2011. He was the husband of the late Patti Page Bibee.

Born June 1, 1923, in Lynchburg, Sam (Big Red) was a son of the late Jennings Washington Bibee and the late Alma Conner Bibee.

In addition to his wife and his parents Sam was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers.

Sam is survived by five children, Chuck Bibee (Molly) of High Point, NC, Sandy Miller (Maurice), of Rustburg, Bob Bibee (Bette), of Lynchburg, Tim Bibee (Vickie),of Roanoke, and Ginalu Miller, Madison Heights; ten grandchildren, Carty Bibee (Katherine), Greg Bibee (Stephanie), Cissy Bibee Kalkwarf (Kevin), Scott Lang (Nickie), Holt Bibee, Charley Miller, Jason Miller (Sara), Cara Miller, Kristin Bibee, Kelsey Bibee; five great grandchildren, Mya Page, Isla Jane, Mackenzie, Aiden, and Brylee; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his unofficial \"adopted son\", Bucky James, who was a devoted friend.

Sam was retired from Craddock Terry Corporation and most recently worked for Overhead Door Company. Sam was a member of the US Army serving our country during WWII as a an enemy radio interceptor. He was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, but his heart was true to the blue and orange of the Virginia Cavaliers.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A reception will be held following the service at the home of Bob and Bette Bibee.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Virginia Student Aid Foundation, P.O. Box 400833, Charlottesville, VA 22904-4833, Peakland United Methodist Church,4434 Boonsboro Road, Lynchburg, VA 24503 or the charity of your choice.

To his many friends from the Dahlia, he wanted you to know he\"™ll be sitting at his favorite table.
