Samuel Henry Hodges, Jr.

Samuel Henry Hodges, Jr., 85, of Goode, formally of Daleville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 29, 2013. Born in Roanoke, Virginia on August 13, 1928, son of the late Samuel Henry Hodges, Sr. and Sallie Bell Wilson Hodges. In addition to his parents, Samuel is preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Lorraine Hodges, two sisters, Margaret and Ann.

Sam served his Country in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired in 1974 from Lowe\"™s of Roanoke as Store Manager.. He was a charter member of Airlee Court Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia. He loved his Lord & Savior. In addition he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by three children, Gary S. Hodges and his wife, Donna of Swoope, VA, Mike B. Hodges and his wife, Becky of Hendersonville, TN, Terri H. Currie and her husband, Dan of Goode, VA; six grandchildren, Lisa Johnson, Michael B. Hodges, Stacey Hutcherson, Lori Showalter, Daniel Currie, and Chad Currie; twelve great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Sam\"™s life will be conducted at 1:00 pm Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with his son, Rev. Gary S. Hodges as officiating minister and Rev. Marvin Suitt doing the committal rights. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, VA.
