Jesus welcomed our beloved, talented, selfless, funny, Samuel Kovey Rogers, 19, of Lynchburg, Virginia, into heaven on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Samuel was truly a gift and was the much-loved son of Ronnie William Rogers, Jr., and Tammy Tomlin Rogers. He was brother and best friend to William Rogers.
Samuel was born on July 26, 2002, in Lynchburg, Virginia. He attended Liberty Christian Academy for 13 years and graduated in 2020. He was a student at Liberty University and was continuing to follow God’s calling in ministry.
Samuel was a member of Waymaker Church and loved his role as a member of the church praise and worship team. Samuel was passionate about playing guitar and his music ministry. He loved nature, cooking, funny hats, cool shoes and the color purple. Samuel was a truth seeker in all areas of life. His passion was to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ by being bold in his actions to make sure that every person he met knew of the love of Jesus. He faithfully studied the Word of God with his favorite book being Hebrews.
In addition to his parents and brother, Samuel is survived by his beloved Nan, Evelyn S. Tomlin who always knew he was called to ministry; uncle, Neil Tomlin; aunt, Terry Lanham (Reid); and many close cousins. Samuel was blessed with loving friends both at LCA, LU and Waymaker Church.
