Sandra Kay Chase, 81, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Aidan and Linda Lafoe, and the loving wife of Raymond Chase for 43 years.
She was born on June 23, 1943, in Enosburg Falls, Vermont. She attended Hartford High School, then started her beautiful family. Along with raising a large family, including fostering children, she worked various jobs over the years, none more important than raising her family; to include her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as they came into her life. What everyone knew most about her was how caring, loving, giving and selfless she was. She never knew a stranger. There wasn't a thing she wouldn't do for family and friends alike.
She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg, Virginia for many years, where she served on various committees. She enjoyed traveling with her Husband and was happiest when her home was filled with her family.
Sandy is survived by her children, Cyndi Culver (Steve) of Addison, Vt., Andrea Judd (John) of Norwich, Vt., Jayne Lower (Richard) of Lynchburg Va, Barry Chase (Jill) of White River Jct, Vt., Jim Chase of Amherst County, Va., Tanya Campbell (Wesley) of Goode, Va, and Brock Davidson (Angie) of St. John’s Fl.; 13 grandchildren: Bryana Johnson, Heidi Horsley (CJ), Amber Andrews (Devon), Chris Judd (Heidi), Ashley Judd, Amanda Bacon (Zach), Scotty Chase, Brian Chase, Meagan Broughton (Josh), Cameron Chase, Caissy Chase, and Carley Chase, Jacob Davidson; 18 great-grandchildren: Sierra Robey, Christian Robey, Keenen Robey, Ethan Robey, Jayde Towers, Isaiah Rose, Skyler Matthews, Amyah Andrews, Jordyn Andrews, Chloe Judd, Liam Judd, Olivia Judd, Jordan Pecor, Lillian Bacon, Katherine Bacon, Kelsi McKenna, Bryan McKenna and Bryson McKenna; sister, Brenda Smith (Alan), numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends in the community.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Allan Hull, Edmund Charbonneau, Gary LaFoe and John Ainsworth.
A celebration of life will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM with Pastor Brian Beagle officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
