Sandra Lou Mayberry Ayers, 67, of Lynchburg died on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Earl Franklin Ayers.
Born in Lynchburg on January 8, 1951 she was a daughter of the late Howard McLeonard Mayberry and Marion Shirley Brooks Mayberry. She is also preceded in death by her aunt: Frances B. Critzer of Arlington.
Sandra was a very outgoing person who loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was very proud to have worked at Wal-Mart in Lynchburg for 25 years. Some of the things Sandra loved to do when not working were to go fishing with her son and other members of her family. She was a member of the Heart of Virginia Parrothead Club and also a member of the St. Augustine Swashbucklers. Sandra loved spending time at the beach, she loved dolphins. She was very involved with the U.S. Marine Corp. where she was considered the Mascot Mom of the reserve center in Lynchburg.
She is survived by her son: Jonathan Ayers of Lynchburg; sister: Karen M. Wright and husband, William D. of Bedford; nephews: Nathan Wright and wife, Katie, Ethan Wright and wife, Rebecca; great nephews: Jacob Schofield, Cullen Major; great niece: Emily Faith Wright; and a very special friend. She cherished each and every moment she spent with her family including Holly.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Leffler Memorial Cemetery in Evington. The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford, Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Sandra would like for all to consider becoming an organ donor.
