Sarah Ettie Thornhill Hughes, 43, died at her home on October 1, 2017, after a short illness.
She is survived by her boyfriend, Wayne Newcomb; her two children, Wednesday Thornhill Hertzberg and Lovey Sarah Hertzberg; and their father, Joseph Hertzberg. She is also survived by her parents, Holcombe A.J. Hughes and Patricia G. Hughes; and by nine siblings: Holly Morrison-Burkhardt (Steven), Kathryn Cone, Patricia Haines (Timothy), Sallie Tomlin, Holcombe Hughes, Jr. (Teresa), Gwendolyn Hughes, Joanna Hughes-Crisler (Richard), Dorothy Sue Hughes, and John Robert Griffin Hughes. Her nineteen nieces and nephews and eight grand nieces and nephews will miss her.
Sarah loved to fish, run, hike, and garden. She had a green thumb and kept her family supplied with tomatoes and peppers. She dearly loved her cows, her doggy Skeeter, and her beautiful home on the farm. Along with her family, she will be remembered by Blanks and Carla Blankenship and her many friends.
There will be a graveside service at Presbyterian Cemetery on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of Sarah’s life at Willow Lake in Campbell County.
