Sarah Forse Busch, born September 30, 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of James Monroe Forse and Margaret Bee Forse, died March 29, 2015, in Lynchburg, Virginia. She was a resident of the Westminster Canterbury Home, where she moved, along with husband Russell, from Bedford, Virginia, in June of 1994.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell W. Busch, who died on August 31, 2014, and to whom she had been married for 74 years.
Mrs. Busch is survived by a son: the Rev. Dr. Glenn Busch and wife Kathleen of Lynchburg, Virginia; two grandchildren: Matthew Busch and wife Camille of Winston Salem, North Carolina, and Lauren Duckworth and husband Darren of Nashville, Tennessee; and two great grandchildren: James and Matthew Duckworth, both of Nashville, Tennessee.
Born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, she and husband Russell Busch resided in the greater Pittsburgh area until moving to Bedford, Virginia, in 1981.
Mrs. Busch had worked for Sax Fifth Avenue of Pittsburgh, and was an active volunteer throughout her life. While living in the Pittsburgh area, she was a Gray Lady for The American National Red Cross and a member of the Order of The Daughters of the King at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She continued her community service after moving to Central Virginia, where she was recognized for 500 hours of volunteer service at Virginia Baptist Hospital and for her service as a volunteer at the Westminster Canterbury Home.
Mrs. Busch was a member of Airys Temple, No. 48 of the Daughters of the Nile, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Liberty Chapter, No. 109 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Bedford, Virginia.
She and beloved husband Russell were devoted members of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Bedford, Virginia, where they accumulated fond memories and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Bedford, Virginia, on Thursday, April 2, at 11:00 a.m., the Rev. F. Wilson Brown, Jr., rector, presiding. A reception will follow in the parish hall of the church.
