Scott Nelson Burley Jr., 68, of Evington died Wednesday, February 2, 2011. He was the husband of Edith Mae Burley for 20 years.
Born August 3, 1942, in Amherst County, Scott was a son of the late Scott Nelson Burley and Rosie Duff Burley.
In addition to his wife, Scott is survived by seven children: Michael Harvey and his wife Linda, of Berryville, VA, Brenda Caldwell and her husband Sterling, of Spartanburg, SC, Scott Nelson Burley, III, of Pacolet, SC, Douglas Burley and Duane Burley of Evington, Donald Burley of Lynchburg, and Dorrie Burley Self and her husband, Dennis, of Lynchburg; a grandson, T. J. Caldwell and a great granddaughter, Kesley Caldwell, both of Spartanburg, SC; a brother: Robert L. Burley of Lynchburg, and two sisters: Dorothy B. Johnson of Lynchburg, and Shirley B. Wheeler and her husband Thurston, of Amherst.
Scott was preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie N. Burley, three sisters, Nellie B. Bailey, Mildred B. Mayberry and Estelle B. Creasy, and a son, Delmer Ray Salyer.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Tharp Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am in the chapel with the Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. Interment will follow in Tree of Life Cemetery.
