Sharlie Lou (Hess) Kerr, 83, of Lynchburg, entered into her eternal reward in Heaven on January 14, 2017, at Runk & Pratt Liberty Village, Lynchburg, Virginia.
She was born October 2, 1933, in Indiana, Pennsylvania to the late Amos Samuel Hess and Alta Minta (Thompson) Hess. Sharlie, along with her late husband Robert George Kerr, raised her family in Mentor, Ohio. Sharlie and Robert moved to Lynchburg, Virginia in 1992, following Robert’s retirement from TRW, Cleveland, after working there 42 consecutive years.
Sharlie is survived by her son, Daniel Robert Kerr, his wife Julieanne and their children Sarah Roggatz and husband, Jonathon including a great granddaughter, Rose Alexander Roggatz, and Ben Kerr of Vilonia, Arkansas; son Dr. Stephen Paul Kerr and his wife, Martha, and their children Michael Kerr and wife Kelsie of San Diego, California and Stephanie (Kerr) Knight and husband Macon of Lynchburg, Virginia; and daughter Sharon Lynn (Kerr) Clark, her husband Kevin, and their children Seth and Samuel of Lynchburg, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert George Kerr, sister Helen (Hess) Hunter, and brother, Robert Michael Hess.
Mrs. Kerr, faithful and gracious servant of the Lord, was a long time member of Heritage Baptist Church, and loved to serve and fellowship there until her health made it too difficult for her to continue. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, family and friends, but we know that we will see her again one day in Heaven if we have trusted in Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Heritage Baptist Church, Lynchburg. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church, with Dr. F. Gerald Kroll officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the building fund at Heritage Baptist Church, 219 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
