Shelby Virginia Witt Klaiber

Shelby W Klaiber, 66, of Bedford, Virginia passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Dennis (Dickie) Edward Witt and Barbara Scott Witt. She was also a loving Wife, Mom, Grandmother, Sister and Daughter In-law, Aunt and Great Aunt.

Shelby was born in November of 1957 in Bedford, Virginia.  She attended Liberty High School then Community Hospital’s School of Nursing in Roanoke, Virginia. Upon graduation she and Mike were married and lived in Roanoke until returning to Bedford in 2011 to care for her parents.

Her first position as a graduate RN was in ICU at Community Hospital of the Roanoke Valley followed by High-Risk OB and she ended her career performing Procedural Sedation working at both Community and Roanoke Memorial Hospitals. She was a respected nurse with many friends, coworkers, and patients in her 30-year career.

Shelby enjoyed family, friends, cooking, camping, gardening, and the outdoors. She loved music and collected miniatures of just about anything. She loved her fur babies.

Shelby is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Michael Wayne Klaiber; children, Christopher, and Jessica Klaiber; grandchildren, Haley, Madison, and Emily Klaiber; and her extended family including Aunt’s, Uncle’s, and loads of Cousin’s.

Shelby was a member of Bedford Christian Church and married in the church at its former North Bridge Street location in 1979. She will join her mother and father in being remembered and celebrated at the church’s present location, 1929 Moneta Road, Bedford Virginia

A Celebration of her life will be held March 9, 2024, beginning at 1 pm with a gathering and visitation of family and friends. A service will follow at 2.
