Shelly Elizabeth Austin Caudill, 46, of Forest, VA passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. Born January 1, 1978, Shelly is the daughter of Melva Creasy Walker and Sayford (Pete) Walker, Robert Austin and his fiancé Nancy Poindexter, Stepmother Diane Austin Dodson and husband Thomas.
She is survived by her husband Steven Glenn Caudill, son Tyler Matthew White and his girlfriend Hannah Austin; daughters, are Meghan and Brooke Caudill, sisters Jennifer Austin and her fiancé, Mark Elliott and Tiffany Paige Tyree. Additionally, survivors include sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Jeff Noah; nephews are Robert Scott Tyree (Hannah Wilson), Josh Ayers, and Alex Noah; nieces are Morgan Grace Tyree and Kayla Jinkens; aunts and uncle are Deborah Reynolds, Karen (Sonny) Jordan, Harriet Edwards, Sharon Moon, Ann Pendleton, Jeanette Walker and Uncle John (Billy) Austin. She was predeceased by her brother Christopher Lee Powell, father and mother-in-law Dallas and Joyce Caudill, grandparents Morris and Lillian Creasy, Ruby and Orville Austin, Virginia and Garland Walker as well as aunt, Cindy Walker; uncles Gene Walker, Billy Moon, James Pendleton, Danny Reynolds, and Lyle Tucker. Shelly was very affectionately known as GiGi to a King Charles Spaniel dog, Ellie.
Shelly was a 1996 graduate of Jefferson Forest High School. Additional education included Central Virginia Community College, Old Dominion University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, and Miller Motte Technical School with a Certificate in Medical Billing and Coding. Her former employment included Lynchburg Foundry Credit Union, Central Virginia Community Services Board, Grace Family Medicine, and Lincare.
She, Steve and Tyler were lovers of goats, dogs, cats, chickens, and turkeys all of which they raised and cared for. Shelly was very talented in various arts and crafts with her skills in cake decorating being especially developed and refined. She greatly enjoyed doing for others through her special artistic gifts.
Shelly was blessed by Steven’s unwavering love and devotion. He truly loved her in sickness and in health, honoring her by loving and cherishing her on good and bad days.
A service, officiated by Chaplain Wayne Lanham and Eddie Moon, will be Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA. Visitation will be 4 to 5 p.m. with the service at 5 p.m. and an additional visitation following the service.
