Shirley Robinson Hartman, 87, of Forest, VA. was united with our Lord on June 15, 2022. Born on June 24, 1934. Shirley was the loving wife of deceased Bobby “Bob” Gene Hartman for 49 years. Shirley and Bob purchased New London Steakhouse in 1969. With lots of love and hard work, made a very successful establishment even to this day. Shirley was the daughter of Herbert “Pete” Hall Robinson and Grace Robinson Smith of Richmond, VA. Shirley and Bob married in 1953.
She is survived by a son, Donald “Keith” Hartman (Sandi) of Forest and Jackie Hartman, daughter in law of Lynchburg, two sisters, Sandy Sauer and Pam Pollard (Steve) of Mechanicsville, VA.
Everything Shirley did was done with grace, taste and elegance. She was a lady of utmost class. Shirley kept very active all her life, playing tennis, bridge, shopping with friends, walking everyday rain or shine, traveling and dancing. She was a member of SOL and loved to shag dance.
Shirley is survived by 4 grandchildren, Amy Hartman Bryant (Steve), Dustin Keith Hartman, Kassie Hartman Bond, and Robert Corey Hartman. She has 14 great grandchildren, and she was a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church.
Shirley is preceded in death by husband Bobby Gene Hartman, grandson Bobby Lee Hartman, and son Robert “Wayne” Hartman.
Shirley wants to send special thanks to Diane Johnston, Cathy Montgomery and Marilyn Holt. And a very special thanks to Brittany Locke of Centra Hospice.
A visitation will be held at Timberlake United Methodist Church on Monday, June 27, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held at Timberlake United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 2 p.m. A reception will follow in Fellowship Hall.
