Shirley Banton Lawhorne

Shirley Jean Banton Lawhorne, 79, of Madison Heights passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014. She was the daughter of and pre-deceased by her mother Mary Kate (Katie) Frazier Banton and father Willie Russell Banton, as well as her former husband, Harold Lawhorne of Madison Heights.

 

Shirley was retired from Old Dominion Box Company.  She loved flower gardening, reading and playing with her great grandson, Taylor.  She was a member of Madison Heights Christian Church.

 

Survivors include her sister Jewel Phelps of Amherst, her daughters Barbara Lawhorne Dewitt (Carl) of Lynchburg, Rachel Lawhorne of Madison Heights; sons David Lawhorne (Emily)  of Madison Heights and William \"Ricky\" Lawhorne of Madison Heights along with 4 grandsons and 4 great grandsons and 2 great, great granddaughters.

 

The family would like extend their gratitude to Hospice of the Hills for all of the wonderful care provided to \"Mom\" during her illness \"" special thanks to Becky Cox. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Hills or your favorite charity.

 

Family and Friends will gather at Tharp Funeral Home in Madison Heights  on Wednesday, February 26  from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm to share memories of Shirley \"" wife, mother, granny,  friend, co-worker and more.
