Born on November 28, 1968 in Elton, Maryland she was a daughter of Betty Jean Barton Sturgill and the late Milford Hicks.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her three daughters, Carrie Hicks Brown and her husband, Paul, Betsy Hicks, Amanda Hicks; sister, Freda Akers and her husband Matthew; brothers, Junior Hicks, Snowden Hicks, and nine grandchildren.
