Shirley Lee Powell Rosser Maddox

Shirley Lee Powell Rosser Maddox, 75, of Lynchburg, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 15, 2016.
She was born on June 29, 1940, in Lynchburg to the late Wyatt Wilson Powell and the late Minnie Johnson Powell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Owen William Rosser Jr. her second husband, Donald Maurice Maddox; and a brother-in-law, Earl Rosser.
Left behind to cherish Shirley’s memory are her children, Debra (Michael) Bankert of Buchanan, and Darrell Thomas Rosser of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren, Jason, Matthew and Michael Bankert, Dustin, Joshua, Amber, and Alexis Rosser; five great-grandchildren, Owen, Wyatt, Addie and Ashlyn Bankert, and Autumn Broughman; two sisters, Emma Powell Mason and Lois Powell Dunkelberger; two sisters-in-law, Linda (Ronnie) Eagle, and Peggy (Sonny) Farris; along with numerous loving family members. Special mention to Denise Carter and Pam Donbach.
Shirley was a member of Old Forest Road Baptist Church. After working for forty-one years, she retired from G.E./Ericsson to spend more time at home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, with a visitation taking place one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Street, Memphis, TN 38105.
