Shirley Marie Presley Pearce, 78, of Lynchburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016.
Born on June 9, 1937, she was a daughter of the late William and Louise Presley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Marie Pearce; and three brothers.
Left behind to cherish Shirley’s memory are her children, Deborah Coleman and her husband, Roger, and James Pearce, Jr. and his wife, Lisa; four grandchildren, Brandon Pearce and his fiancée, Ally, Jacob Pearce, Hayley Garland, and Heather Pribble; three great-grandchildren; her siblings, Rosa Powell and her husband, Reggie, Harold Presley and his wife, Betty, Bonnie Butler and her husband, Jerry, Geneiva Hartless and her husband, Sylvester, and Allen Presley and his wife, Shelly; her former husband, James Preston Pearce, Sr.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Shirley was a wonderful mother, wife, and a strong woman. She was a very giving, Godly woman, who would give you the shirt off of her back. A great cook, Shirley made the best tomato and mayonnaise sandwich. Her family often jokes that she missed her calling as a caterer. She will always be remembered for her generous nature and kind spirit, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends to celebrate Shirley’s life on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
