Shirley Eileen Martz

Shirley Eileen Martz, 85, of Lynchburg, VA, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024. She was the wife of the late Ellis Stanley Martz for 63 years.

Born on March 6, 1939, in Cabot, PA, Shirley was a daughter of the late William Clement Denny and Blanche McGrady Denny.

Shirley is survived by a son, Brian Lee Martz and Janet Marshall, a daughter, Deborah Lynn Dawson and her husband, Mark; five grandchildren, Hailea Reanna Martz, Lindsey Nicole Martz, Piper Ashtyn Martz, Elizabeth D. Bronk, Andrew Tyler Dawson; four great-grandchildren, Khorie, Parker, Myles, and Lilly; and a brother, Robert Denny. 

Shirley was a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church for over 50 years and served with the women of the church. She was a hard-working woman and made sure everything was completed to perfection. And most importantly she was the most loving mother her children and family could ask for.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Timberlake Church. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Timberlake Church with Pastor Joe Elmore officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park with a reception to follow at Timberlake Church.
