Shirley Mckinney Arrington

Shirley McKinney Arrington, 78, of Goode passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at her residence. She was born on January 21, 1940 in Halifax Co., Virginia. She was a daughter of the late Henry McKinney and Fannie Jennings McKinney. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Vaughan Arrington, SR.; son, Bruce Arrington; two brothers, Lawrence McKinney and Johnnie Frank McKinney.

Shirley loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a homemaker and also helped on the family farm. She was known in her community for breeding Pomeranian and Norwegian Elkhounds. Families from all over our area have enjoyed her pups throughout the years and often times kept in touch. She also enjoyed going to auctions, antiquing and reading. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Shirley is survived by her four children, Carl V. Arrington, Jr. (Ronda Ann), Janet Brunk (Debbie Hill), Barry Arrington, and Cheryl Cheek (James); eight grandchildren, Morgan Arrington, Chance Cheek, Cameron Cheek, Robert Brunk, Jonathan Brunk, Carl V. Arrington III, Joshua Overstreet and Joseph Overstreet; siblings, William McKinney, Joseph T. McKinney (Ava), and Glenda Childress; also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

 

A graveside service and celebration of Shirley’s life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Virginia Memorial Park with Rev. Mike Jones officiating.
