Shirley Jean North Smith, 91, of Thaxton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 11, 2018.  She was the loving wife of the late Donald H. Meyers and the late Emory R. Smith.

 

Born March 26, 1927 in Selinsgrove, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Harold and Kathryn Gemberling North. Shirley was a faithful member of Calvary Memorial Church in Roanoke and before that Grace Community Church.

 

Shirley is preceded in death by her sister:  Frances Schankweiler and two brothers: John and Robert North.

 

She is survived by her children: Sharon (Phil) Chamberlain of Fla., Scott (Patty) Meyers of Thaxton, Donna Rowlett of Fort Royal, and Donald Meyers of Indiana; grandchildren: Jessica (Dave) Munford, Rachel (Eric) Fainter, Amanda Lawrence, Cassie Meyers, Amber-Lee Meyers, Kevin (Christen) Meyers, Ryan Johnson; extended grandchildren: Kevin (Leah) Henesy, Scott (Jess) Johnson,  great-grandchildren: Anelie Munford, Eleanor Munford, Eliza Love Fainter-Hayden, Willow Meyers, Kaya Meyers, extended great-grandchildren: Tyler Henesy, Mason Henesy, Camden Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.

 

The family world like to thank Centra Hospice for the care given to their mother and also thank Bedford Presbyterian Church for the love, prayers and support given to the family during this time.

 

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Memorial Church in Roanoke on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Pastor Mark Vaughn.
