Shirley T. Hawkins, 85 of Concord, Virginia died on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born Tuesday, February 15, 1927 in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late Francis \"Shorty\" Hauswirth and Lottie Stephens Hauswirth. She was preceded in death by both her first husband, Gerald Torian and her second G. Bernard Hawkins.
She was a very involved member of First United Methodist Church which later joined with Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church where she was also very active. Prior to retirement she was an office assistant with the Chapstick Company.
She is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Torian and Judy Torian Martin and husband, Dennis all of Concord, VA, a sister, Edith Barley of Lynchburg, three grandchildren: Gerald \"Gerry\" Martin, Phillip Martin and Timothy Torian, and one great-grandchild; Alaina, She is also survived by a special cousin, Sidney Stephens, Jr. and a much loved nephew, Butch Barley.

The family will receive friends from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Chestnut Hill Methodist Church.
A funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m. with the Reverend Becky J. Cloud and the Reverend Nolan Crowder officiating. A private interment will be held later.
