Stanford Roland Shearer, Jr.
Stanford Roland Shearer, Jr., 86 of Moneta, passed away on Friday January 17, 2014 at South Roanoke Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Caroline Jane Menditto Shearer and the late Margaret Marie Underwood Myers Shearer.
Born February 20, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Stanford Roland Shearer, Sr. and Lillian Nace. Stanford was active with the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce, he would volunteer at least one Sunday a month at Smith Mountain Lake Runk & Pratt and he was an active member of Hales Ford Baptist Church.
Stanford is survived by his son, Stanford Roland Shearer, III; daughters, Sharon and Leta: step-sons, Charles Rodney Myers and wife, Judith, David Myers and wife, Kim; step-daughter, Elaine Gansauer and husband, John and eight grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Tharp funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Daleville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric road, Suite, 106 A, Roanoke, VA 24018.
