Stanley Alan Feldman

Stanley Alan Feldman, 84, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Lynchburg General Hospital.  He was the loving husband of Dolores Helene Feldman for 63 wonderful years.

He was born on August 3, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Max H. Feldman and the late Evelyn Stollmack Feldman, and was also preceded in death by his beloved brother, Gerry Feldman.

Stan was the retired president of Joan and Jay Inc., a sewing manufacturing plant he founded and ran for more than 20 years.  An avid hobbyist with many varied interests, he enjoyed philately, rock-hounding, fiercely competitive weekly poker games, and in his later years, creating lovely semi-precious beaded jewelry for family and friends.  All would agree that his happiest times were spent on fun-packed deep sea fishing outings with his son Adam, sons-in-law Steve and Jim, and good and close friends.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Dolores; daughter Sherry Feldman Ackroyd and her husband Jim Ackroyd, Jr., daughter Leslie Brooks and her husband Steve Brooks; son Adam Jay Feldman and his wife, Jill Feldman, two grandchildren Michael and Jenna Feldman; his sister-in-law, Audrey Feldman, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 4:00 pm.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staffs at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital, the Guggenheimer Health and Rehabilitation Center, and the UVA Dialysis Center for all their compassionate care during these past years.  And a special thanks to neighbors and friends for all their kindnesses and support.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lynchburg Humane Society.
