Stephen R. Mccallum

Stephen Rio McCallum, 66, of Huddleston, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at his residence. He was born on June 22, 1951 in Ft. Monmouth, NJ. He was the son of the late Edward J. McCallum and Emily Hollingsworth McCallum.

Steve was a loving family man. He found enjoyment as being an entrepreneur and jack of all trades. He was a co-owner/operator of Halesford Harbor Boat Rental at Smith Mountain Lake. Steve was also an avid outdoorsman, having spent time hunting, fishing and boating. He will be missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon J. McCallum; two children, Brian S. McCallum and his wife, Kim and Bonnie L. Thompson; five grandchildren, Taylor R. Thompson, Riley L. Thompson, Tyson C. Thompson, Dylan T. McMahon and Cale A. McMahon; seven siblings, Edward J. McCallum and his wife, JoAnn, Harold F. McCallum and his wife, Susan, Susan M. Alford and her husband Kelly, Michael A. McCallum and his partner, Sean Craythorne, Dorothy M. Webb and her husband, Butch, Terry M. Pelfrey and her husband, Tommy and Paul G. McCallum and his wife, Gloria; also numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

A memorial service and celebration of Steve’s life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Chapel in Bedford.
