On October 9, 2023, Robert Steven “Steve” Dixon, 73, of Bedford, Virginia went to be with his Heavenly Father.
Steve was a faithful member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church. He retired from B&W where he was employed for 45 years.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. William A. Dixon, of Pineville, WV, and into a loving family of four sisters and two brothers; Eugene Dixon, Greta Smith, Peggy Huffman, Patty Salcines, Marjorie Short and Mike Dixon.
During his retirement years he enjoyed traveling with his wife and when at home he was always busy helping others, and you could usually find him in his workshop tackling projects. As a member of the James River Camping Club, he had many adventurous friends. He always loved a good campout and entertained with many stories he loved to share.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Vikki, a daughter, Angela, and her husband Micah Avignone, brothers and sisters-in-law, Perry, and Sue Burcham, of Forest, VA, Tina and Greg Pack, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Todd Dixon, grandson Gabriel Tyler Fariss, a sister, Greta Smith, and a brother Eugene Dixon.
Arrangements are as follows:
Monday, October 16, 2023, visitation at 12:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA, with the service following at 1p.m. Burial at Virginia Memorial Park, 11490 Forest Road, Forest, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Timber Ridge Baptist Church, 3234 Timber Ridge Road, Bedford, VA 24523.
