Steven Russell Turner, Sr., 52, of Forest, VA, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012. He was the husband of Lisa Lynn Turner for 30 years.
Steve was born October 3, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to being a loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was a reserved, conservative Christian, and patriotic man that embodied the philosophies of both Thomas Jefferson and Ronald Regan. He loved living in Virginia where on any given day he could go see and enjoy the historical sites around the state such as Monticello, Poplar Forest, and Colonial Williamsburg. Steve had a personalized license plate that read, \"Bak 9\". This golfing term described his life. Only 52, he was in the back 9 of his life. He had been through the trials of life, learned from his errors, and was beginning to enjoy the back 9 of his life.
In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by a daughter, Jessica K. Hamby and her husband, Brandon, Lynchburg, a son, Steven Russell Turner, Jr., Forest, two granddaughters, Natalya and Sophia Hamby, of Lynchburg, his father and mother in-law, William and Carolyn Larson, of Lynchburg, a brother in-law, Mike Larson and his wife, Raquel, of MO, a sister in-law, Tamara Calise and her husband, Larry, of Lakewood, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 04, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A celebration of Steven's life will follow at 7:30 PM on Friday, January 04, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with Chaplain Wayne Lanham.
