Sue Davis Breeding

Sue Davis Breeding, 92, of Lynchburg, Va., passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents James T. Davis and Sue Adams Davis, her husband of 68 years, Ralph P. Breeding Jr., her son Ralph F. Breeding; and her daughter Nancy D. Breeding.

Sue is survived by her son, Charles A. Breeding (Nancy); her daughter, Alice B. Duncan (George); her daughter-in-law, Kati Breeding; six grandchildren: Elizabeth Breeding, Joseph Breeding, Karen Payne (Howard), Melanie Blair (John), Matthew Breeding (Mary Elizabeth), Clayton Breeding (Christy), 14 great-grandchildren and her two sisters, Lucy D. Gunn and Clare D. Wallace (Irving).

Sue was born on February 9, 1927, in Lynchburg where she spent most of her life. Sue was a graduate of Longwood College with a degree in art and taught school before getting married and raising a family. She continued teaching on a part-time basis. Sue was actively involved at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church, Lynchburg Women’s Club, The American Cancer Society and many other civic organizations in Lynchburg. Sue’s passions were her crafts and cooking. She loved making something unique or cooking something for her friends. She loved having big family gatherings at her house. She loved her husband and family above all else and will be deeply missed by all.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bentley Commons for all the care and love that she was shown while she lived there, Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their care in her last weeks and all of her loving and dear friends that were a large part of her life.

A celebration of Sue’s life will be held at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church, at 12 noon, Saturday, June 15, 2019, with the Rev. Ian McManamey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
