Sue P. Johnson

Sue P. Johnson, of Madison Heights, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Sue was born on November 24, 1933, to Hiram W. and Martha Wood Proffitt of Lynchburg and was a lifelong member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church.  She is survived by her brother, Erskine W. Proffitt (Judy) of Huddleston; her son, Patrick C. Proffitt (Terri) of Lynchburg; her grandchildren, Christopher Proffitt (Chanda) of Huntersville, N.C., and Blake Proffitt of Lynchburg; her great-grandchildren, Jacqueline Malone, Connor Malone, and Isabella Proffitt of Huntersville, N.C.; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who all shared Sue’s love of life and laughter. She was preceded in death by siblings Hiram Truman Proffitt, Maynard Patrick Proffitt, Helen Ackert, Bea Hauser, and Marie Dominick.

Sue cherished her church family at West Lynchburg Baptist, her friends in the Charity Sunday School Class, and the Amazing Grace Fellowship Choir. She was always ready to go on fun adventures with her friends from church. Her happiest memories were of times spent surrounded by family at Smith Mountain Lake. Sue had a quick smile, a mischievous laugh, and a fresh-baked sweet treat for the family and friends she loved.

The family is forever grateful for the care from Centra Hospice staff and the friendship and support from Jerrie, Vicky, Joyce, Patsy, Glenna, Ronnie, Sheila, Kim, and Linda over the past few years.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017, at West Lynchburg Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Putt, Pastor, presiding. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to your favorite charity.
