SueAnn Dinsmore, 73, of Forest, VA departed this life on June 3, 2021. She was born on April 13, 1948, in El Paso, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Colonel Ralph and Barbara Young.
She is survived by her devoted husband, David, of 51 years; son, Shawn Dinsmore (Taira) of San Antonio, Texas; grandsons, Daniel, Caleb, Judah, and Samuel of San Antonio; daughter, Megan Dinsmore of San Antonio; brother, Tim Young (Kelly) of San Antonio; sister, Wendy Dawson of Alexandria, Virginia; mother-in-law, Phyllis Dinsmore of San Antonio; brothers-in-law, Mark Dinsmore of Sequim, Washington, Kim Dinsmore (Cindy) of Olympia, Washington and Paul Dinsmore of Tacoma, Washington; and sister-in-law, Megan Green (Kelly) of San Antonio.
As a dedicated Army wife, SueAnn supported the family through 13 moves in 23 years. She was a loving mother who volunteered in her children’s schools, and later worked as a teacher’s aide. During her 14 years at West Point, she counseled, mentored, and fed hundreds of cadets. She also loved and supported many middle and high school youth through the Young Life Ministries at West Point, New York and in Lynchburg, Virginia.
During the school year she enjoyed serving in Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church and participating in women’s and couple’s Bible Studies. In the summer, she loved taking care of the family cottage in upstate New York, and spending time there with her family, especially her four grandsons. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and decorator, often using these gifts for her many friends.

A memorial service will be held at Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 11:00 am.
A burial service will be held at West Point later on a date to be determined.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
