Susanna Rachel Mercer Dinkel

Susanna Rachel Mercer Dinkel, 85, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She born in Newfoundland, Canada on March 2, 1935 to the late Gabriel Mercer and Winnie Parsons Mercer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard Everett Mercer, Reginal Frederick Mercer and George I. Mercer.

Susanna was a faithful member of Bible Truth Tabernacle where she attended regularly. She loved to her family and cooking for them. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, James Alfred Dinkel; sons, David Eugene Howard, Robert J. Howard (Linda), James L. Howard (Becky) and Everett D. Howard; step-children, Angela Marie Simmons, Karen Renee Jones and James Gregory Dinkel (Phoung); brothers, Jethro T. Mercer (Thelma), Dereck W. Mercer (Ruth), Eugene G. Mercer (Mary); sisters, Sarah Elizabeth Nippard and Janet G. Tubrett (Kenneth); grandchildren, Jason, Travis, Rachel, Dana, Dylon, Joshua, Sarah, Alexandra and Patty; step-grandchildren, Eric, Kayla, Nick and Austin; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marjorie Mercer and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford, Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Les Whealton officiating.  Interment will follow in Peaks Church and Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Tharp Bedford.
