Sylvia Fitzgerald Manley, 78, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017.
She was born July 9, 1939, in Bedford County, VA, to the late Herby W. Fitzgerald, Sr., and Phoebe H. Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Manley, a sister, Ellen Leonard, and her brother, Herby (Bud) Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her three children, Barbara Byers (Gilbert), Ricky Layne (Wanda), and Tammy Layne and her fiancé, John Pollard. She is also survived by 3 step-children Roger Manley, Cheryl Menard, and Becky Sims. In addition to her children she is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and by a sister (Marion Lloyd), and 2 brothers – Jimmy and David Fitzgerald, as well as other nieces & nephews.
Sylvia attended Tree of Life ministries. She enjoyed working her flower gardens, going out to eat, and spending time with family and friends.
A Celebration of Sylvia’s Life will be conducted at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 10:30AM with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. Interment will follow the service in Virginia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, on Friday, December 14th from 4:30 to 6:30PM and other times at Sylvia’s residence.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
