Tamara Gandy Laughlin, 42, of Forest, Virginia passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022. She was the daughter of Gene and Cheryl Gandy, and the devoted wife of Mike “L.A. Mike” Laughlin.
Tamara was born on September 21, 1979, in Florence, South Carolina. She attended Randolph-Macon Woman’s College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Philosophy degree. She then attended Lynchburg General School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. Tamara had a great devotion to nursing and cared for countless patients and coworkers through the years. Most recently she worked tirelessly through the long demanding days and months of the Covid epidemic, volunteering to work on the Covid Unit.
She enjoyed art and loved music fervently. She was accepting of all, and a defender of the vulnerable. She provided much laughter with her quick-witted sarcastic comments. She was passionate about her job, hilariously inappropriate, fiercely feminist, outspoken, brilliant, and beautiful in body and soul.
In addition to her loving husband and parents, Tamara is survived by her four beautiful daughters, Cullen, Althea, Lennox (Lux), and Lake; sisters, Tiffany Baldridge (Zach) and Tressa Jones (Chad); nieces, Kayli and Malyn Baldridge, Olivia Jones; nephews, Colton Baldridge, Rylan and Miles Jones; and many honorary siblings and loving friends in the community.
Tamara is predeceased by her beloved Granny Beatrice Register, Grandma Carrie Bell Rose and Aunt Judy Hobson who nurtured her love of music.
All are welcome to gather with the family to celebrate and honor Tamara’s life with memories, music and light hors d’ouevres on Saturday, June 4th from 3:00-6:00 pm at her parents’ home, 106 Tyler Terrace in Forest, VA 24551. The family asks that you leave a brief written account of your favorite memory of Tamara for them to read later.
