Tammy Wilson Word, 53, of Lynchburg departed this life on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. She was born July 21, 1965 to the late James R. Wilson and Shirley M. Wilson who both preceded her in death.
Tammy is survived by her husband of 22 years, Carl I. Word, Sr.; three children, Quincy (Keisha) Morris, Kelly Word, Carl I. Word, Jr.; six sisters, Katie Wilson, Evangelette (Samuel) Pannell, Sharon Wilson, Stacey (Nathan) Brown, Anissa Wilson and Teree (Ronald) Hamlette, all of Lynchburg. Tammy also leaves to mourn five beloved grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Tammy served many years in the food industry and was employed by Lynchburg City Schools until her health diminished.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held Monday, October 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Family is receiving friends at her residence of 5824 Navajo Circle, Lynchburg, Va.
