Ted June Parker

July 7, 1925 — February 3, 2017

Ted Bell Parker, 91, peacefully passed away at her residence on February 3, 2017. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and friends as she went to be home with the Lord. Ted was born on July 7, 1925, the third child of William and Irene Bell. She graduated from Brookville High School in 1943. Ted married Herman Edwin Parker in 1945 and was united in marriage for fifty-six years before Herman’s death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father; her two sisters, Louise Bell Colbert and Violet Bell Hudnall; and her brother, Warren Bell. Ted is survived by her children, James Warren Parker (Vicki), Kathryn Parker Watson (Ben), Jon Edwin Parker (Kathy), and Elizabeth Parker Altaffer (Blaine) as well as ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Ted was a kind and gentle person, full of love and laughter. She enjoyed raising her family and loved nothing more than to talk with, or visit with her children and grandchildren. Ted was a long-time member of Timberlake United Methodist Church and throughout her life was involved in many church actives and groups, as well as the Timbrook Woman’s Club. Her family would like to thank the congregation of TUMC for their love and support, especially the most welcomed meals that were delivered to her, and the visits from her long-time friends in the church. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading. Although she didn’t learn to play golf until later in life, she became quite skilled at the sport. She and Herman spent lots of time traveling and playing golf together. Ted loved the beach and was a welcome family member on many beach vacations where she could always be found with her chair, reading on the beach for days on end.

The family would like to thank Ted’s friends that made life so special and meaningful to her. In addition, we would like to thank Dr. David Smith and the staff at Access Healthcare. We extend a very special thanks to the angels who provided such good care to her in her later years: Nita Pauley, Crystal Pauley and especially Millie Godsey with whom she developed a caring friendship full of love and smiles.

The family will hold a visitation at Tharp Funeral Home on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at Timberlake United Methodist Church on Tuesday February 7, 2017. We ask that you consider a gift in Ted’s name to Timberlake United Methodist Church.
