Terri Sue White

August 23, 1962 — March 3, 2025

Terri Sue White of Lynchburg, formerly of Fredericksburg and Albuquerque, died at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital on March 3, 2025, after a long and hard-fought battle against pneumonia. This complicated her already severe pulmonary hypertension with many years of home oxygen. Until this bout of pneumonia and subsequent relapse, she had managed to live this long through strength of will and the extremely good care of Dr. John Plankeel over the years.

Born at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, she was a daughter of Sidney Marvin White, Sr. and Flossie Virginia Randall White, both who preceded her in death.

Because of the limitations of her disability, she spent her time reading a great variety of books and could finish one a day, which kept her sister running to the library. She remembered more trivia “than the law allowed.” She listened to music and had quite a varied taste. She sang along at times with a lovely singing voice. She watched many movies and occasionally was able to go to the theater for an outing. She played weekly Rummy games with her sister, Joyce, and there was lots of laughter and often a bad word or two involved in the competition. She shared silly internet stuff with great-nephew, Axel and brother, Jeff. And she loved and snuggled with her cat, Sam, who is a wonderful snuggler.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anna Kathleen White in 2017. She was also preceded by her parents; brothers Roger Scott White and Sidney Marvin White, Jr.; and brother-in-law George Curtis Conley.

She is survived by her sisters, Gail White Conley of Fredericksburg and Joyce Rae White of Lynchburg; brothers Roger Dale White of Florida and Jeffrey Hunter White of Lynchburg; sister-in-law, Nayda White of Florida; nephews, John Curtis Conley (Melissa) and Joseph Aaron Conley (Shelly) of Fredericksburg; great niece, Anjel Kira White of Monroe and great nephew, Axel Sidney White of Lynchburg and Appomattox.

Per her wishes there will be no service and she will be cremated. Her ashes will be scattered along with Anna’s at a future date.

The family wishes to thank all the incredible caregivers at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. There were too many of you to list, and we don’t want to leave anyone out. Special thanks go to Dr. John Plankeel.

We will miss her and her wonderful quirky sense of humor, which she kept with her to the end.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
