Terry Lee Charlton affectionately known as “TC” transitioned from his Earthly home to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on July 31, 1957 to the late Mrs. Orietha E. Payne. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Mrs. Carrie B. Patrick; three brothers, Andre Charlton, Kenneth Wayne Charlton, and Joseph W. Charlton.
Terry was baptized at a young age and became a member of the Greater Peaceful Zion Baptist Church, and later attended Tree of Life Ministries. Terry was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and loved to fish. Terry had a special way of making jokes to make you laugh. When you met Terry he always made a lasting impression. Terry received a gift from God and became a talented plasterer. He was formerly employed with C.J. Coakley Plastering Construction Corporation located in Washington D.C.; where he was also a member of the plastering union. Upon returning to Lynchburg, he continued his trade and was self-employed.
Terry leaves to cherish his memory his wife Joyce Charlton of Pamplin, VA; three children, Katina Abbitt (Jamane) Terry L. Charlton Jr. of Roanoke VA, and Brandon Charlton; three sisters, Joyce McCoy (Charles) of Jacksonville FL., Jessica Major, Donna Dillard (Milton) of Accokeek MD; mother in law, Mrs. Hazatine Foster of Pamplin, VA; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Charlton, and Janice Streat (Raymond) of Burkeville, VA.; six grandsons, JaMier and KenYon Abbitt, Christian Charlton, Elijah Charlton, Bryson and Brenton Charlton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on 1:00 pm Saturday April 3, 2021 at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive Lynchburg, VA
