The Rev. Dr. Diane E. Vie entered into eternal rest with her loving God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, on June 15, 2022 while doing what she loved most: spending vacation time at the beach with family and friends. She died in her sleep, peacefully, without discomfort or distress. Diane was the loving daughter of Barbara and Dave Edwards, extraordinary sister of Dave and John Edwards, devoted mother of Amanda and beloved wife of Todd.
Diane was born in Pittsburgh, PA and moved with her family from town to town until arriving in Naperville, Il, where she graduated high school, then earned her bachelor’s degree at Eastern Illinois University. She and Todd met in 1988 while both worked in the Prudential Insurance Claims Department. Amanda was born in 1999, their only child. The three moved to Alexandria, VA in 2004 to attend Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS), where Diane and Todd earned their Masters of Divinity Degrees. They then moved to Lynchburg, VA in 2007, where Diane served St John’s Episcopal Church as Associate Rector, then joined Todd to serve as co-rectors of St Paul’s Episcopal Church. Diane went on to earn a Doctor of Ministry Degree from VTS, and worked for the national Episcopal Church as a diocesan search consultant, served on numerous boards of non-profits throughout Lynchburg, and continued to make friends easily and share the joys and pains with others who considered Diane to be among their own best friends. Diane was truly a lover of all, a stranger to none.
A memorial service in celebration for the life of The Rev. Dr. Diane E. Vie will be held at St. Paul’s on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. The Rt. Rev. Mark A. Bourlakas, Bishop of Episcopal Diocese of Southwestern Virginia, will preside. St. Paul’s is located at 605 Clay Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504

The service will be livestreamed for those not able to attend in person.
